Newsletter, Networking, Special Interest and Self-Help Groups

for Paid Members of The Awareness Center, Inc.

The Awareness Center offers a daily newsletter and several different networking groups / Special Interest Groups for paid members.  To become a member fill out the form below.


Newsletters:

  1. The Awareness Center's Daily Newsletter - This is our offical daily newsletter which is provided to all paid members of The Awareness Center. The purpose our daily newsletter is to help educate our community (mental health professionals, rabbis, legal and law enforcement officals, medical professions, parents, friends, etc.) on the issues and ramifications of sexual violence.  Please note that due to the number of postings to this ListServ, you may want to set your message delivery options to a daily log.

  2. Press-Releases - This group is only open to members of the news media who are interested in learning about issues pertaining to sexual violence in the Jewish community.

Once you are a paid member you will be sent information in how to join one of our Special Interest Groups (SIG)

Professional Networks:

  1. Halacha and Sexual Victimization - This network is open to rabbis and cantors who want to further their knowledge on issues of sexual victimization (i.e. childhood sexual abuse, clergy sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harrassment) and Jewish Law.   2. Rape Victim Advocates - This network is made up of professional victim advocates who are dedicated to addressing sexual violence in Jewish communities around the world. Members of this network include psychotherapists, lawyers, child protection workers, law enforcement officals, rabbis, cantors who are all interested in keeping our children safe, protecting future children from being harmed, and addressing the needs of adult survivors.

Special Interest Groups for Jewish Survivors, Parents and Family Members:

The Awareness Center is currently looking for members who are willing to volunteer to lead the following networks.  If you are interested contact Vicki Polin.

  1. Jewish Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  2. Jewish Survivors of Sexual Violence (as an adult) (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  3. Jewish Survivors of Clergy Sexual Abuse (as a child) (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  4. Jewish Survivors of Clergy Sexual Abuse (as an adult) (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  5. Jewish Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse who are GLBT (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  6. Jewish Survivors of Sexual Violence as an Adult who are GLBT (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  7. Jewish Survivors of Sexual Violence who are Parents (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  8. Jewish Survivors of Sexual Violence who work in the Trauma Field (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  9. Orthodox Male Survivors of Sexual Victimization (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  10. Orthodox Women - Survivors of Sexual Violence (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  11. Rabbis who are Survivors of Sexual Violence (Networking/Self-Help Group).  There are two groups one for male rabbis and the other for female rabbis.

  12. Coming Back Home To Judaism - (Networking/Self-Help Group) This network is open to Jewish survivors of sexual violence who converted to other faiths and have returned or are thinking of returning.

  13. Jews by Choice - Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (Networking/Self-Help Group) This Special Interest Group is for survivors who converted to Judaism.

  14. Rethinking Judaism - A place for survivors to discuss their struggles with the concept of God - (Networking/Self-Help Group) This network is open to Jewish survivors of sexual violence (as adults or children) who have walked away from Judaism and are wanting to reconnect in some way.

  15. Family Members of Sex Offenders and Alleged Sex Offenders - (Networking/Self-Help Group) This Special Interest Group is open to family member of sex offenders (spouses/ex-spouses, parents, children of convicted and alleged sex offenders) to network with each other in hopes that they will no longer feel alone.

  16. Parents of Sexually Abused Children (Networking/Self-Help Group)

  17. Spouses of Rabbis and Cantors who are alleged or convicted sex offenders - (Networking/Self-Help Group) This network is only open to spouses and ex-spouses of rabbis and Cantors who have been accused and/or convicted of sexual offenses.
